General Appearance:
Alphonse used to resemble that of a large suit of armour, but since his brother performed the human transmutation that returned his soul to his body, his appearance has changed dramatically. The younger Elric has lost a lot of height, once towering over everyone as a seven foot tall suit of armour, now a more average height of five foot five. Alphonse used to keep his hair short and neat when he was younger, now has long hair, which he ties back in a ponytail with a blue band, and his bangs are long and somewhat messy. Though the Alphonse’s physique is somewhat scrawny, if only due to his age he is quite agile and is able to put up quite a fight with just his fists if he has to.
The younger Elric has brown/grey eyes and very childlike features, making him seem perhaps younger than thirteen years old, but he has more knowledge than the average teenager, due to his teachings in alchemy. Alphonse often dons the hooded red coat with the black flamel cross on the back that used to belong to his brother, whether this is in homage to him, or simply that Alphonse wished to have a piece of his brother with him is unknown. He is often seen wearing the coat and a black shirt with a white trim, a pair of black pants and equally black shoes. He also wears a pair of gloves with transmutation circles inscribed on them, making it easier for him when using alchemy as he does not have to draw an array, he merely claps his hands.

Overall Personality:
Alphonse has a very sweet nature, willing to help anyone if they need it, if at all possible. He is a very determined young man, and when he sets his mind to do something there is no turning back, he will always finish what he has set out to achieve, a desirable trait. Whilst Alphonse will usually back down in most fights, usually through wishing to keep the peace, there are occasions when even he has to draw the line and fight back. Alphonse is usually the more level headed of the Elric Brothers, and often acts as the mediator whenever Edward becomes enraged by someone, but there are times when even Al can become angered if someone pushes him too far, but it is a rare occurrence.
Alphonse has a weakness for most animals, particularly kittens, and it has gotten him in trouble with his brother more than once as he used to hide them inside his armour. Whether it is due to the fact that Alphonse has never really ‘grown up’ in a sense, or whether it is simply part of his nature, the younger boy has a tendency to be a little naïve at times, and perhaps too trusting of others, often taking them at their word which has led to more than one difficult situation. Alphonse’s relationship with his brother is very close, and there is no one in the world more important to him than Edward.

Alphonse was born in a small town named Risembool, where he lived with his older brother, Edward and his mother Trisha Elric, Alphonse’s father left them when he was still very young and he has very little memory of him. Alphonse and his brother learned alchemy from the books that their father had left behind and became quite accomplished at it, showing off their works to their mother who never failed to praise them. However their mother fell ill and unfortunately died apparently of a sickness that she had been dealing with for some time, but she had never told anyone. Pinako Rockbell decided to look after the boys, treating them as if they were her own grandchildren. During that time, the brothers concentrated on studying alchemy in hopes of bringing their mother back to life and were able to train with a skilled alchemist named Izumi Curtis. When they returned home from their training, they proceeded to try the taboo art of Human transmutation but failed costing Edward his left leg, and Alphonse his entire body. Edward performed a second transmutation, sacrificing his own right arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a nearby suit of armour.
It was a short while after this that Edward decided to have himself fitted with auto-mail in order to travel to Central to meet with Mustang in order to become a state alchemist, and return Alphonse to his body. Edward did indeed become a state alchemist, and Alphonse and his brother started searching for the legendary ‘Philosopher’s stone’ a stone that would allow an alchemist to bypass all the laws of equivalent exchange, and get something for nothing, a stone that Edward and Alphonse intended to use to get their bodies back to the way they had been before. They spent four long years searching for the stone, and ended up finding it, but not quite in the way that they had expected. In a strange twist of events, Alphonse was turned into the Philosopher’s stone, and was eventually captured by the Homunculi, who’s master wished to use Alphonse to switch to another body, which she had been doing for four hundred years. Edward was killed by the Homunculus named envy, and Alphonse sacrificed his own life to bring Edward back to life.
After reawakening, Edward found that he had his original limbs back, but once he realised that Alphonse had given his life to bring him back he once again attempted a human transmutation to bring his brother back whole, body, mind and soul he was successful but he was forced to the other side of the gate, never knowing if Alphonse had been brought back or not. Alphonse was returned to his body, but it was his ten years old body, and he had no memory of the four years after which he and Edward had attempted the transmutation of their mother. He asked Izumi Curtis, his old teacher, if she would train him again, and she agreed.

Roleplay Sample: Silence, just as always, the only sounds that moved through his mind was the familiar sounds that the flat made, the creaking of the floorboards and the light ticking of the grandfather clock that stood in the living room. It was always like this first thing in the morning, silent, and it was a good kind of silence as far as the younger Elric was concerned. He had woken somewhat earlier than normal, though the exact time was far from his mind, the only thing he did remember perhaps was that there had been little to no light in hid room when he had. It was becoming a routine of late, waking up early, though he wasn’t exactly sure why he was doing it...well, stranger things happened, and as far as strange things went, waking at the crack of dawn wasn’t really that bad...still, it bothered him somewhat....mostly because he was still tired.
There had been that moment in which Alphonse had tried to go back to sleep, he’d shifted to his side, pulled the pillow over his head, kicked the sheets off, which honestly only served to make him cold rather than make him sleepy before he’d finally given up. Alphonse raised a hand to his mouth, stifling a yawn before his hand migrated to his hair, ruffling his fringe a little in a tired manner. Even if he was tired, he’d somehow managed to get his mind to focus on something but perhaps given the state of it at the moment it probably hadn’t been the best idea to try and delve into a physics book. It had taken the younger Elric a good five minutes after sitting down upon the couch to realise that he was holding the book upside down...of course he corrected that rather quickly and he’d been thankful for the fact that Edward was still asleep and not around to note his stupidity.
Edward...things hadn’t been right with him lately either, he wasn’t exactly sure what was bothering his elder brother, but whatever is was, it was enough to alter his moods rather drastically. Admittedly Edward had always been rather grumpy in his teens, Alphonse could recall a number of times when he’d pouted for days over something silly, but this wasn’t a childish act....it wasn’t something that seemed to go away either. He’d tried to ask him if everything was alright several times, one of those times he could recall a rather snappy response....something that was unnerving for it wasn’t often that Edward reacted in such a manner towards him. He admitted to himself that this change in his brother bothered him greatly, perhaps more than he would openly admit, especially considering he hadn’t gotten any further in figuring out why Edward was acting so....angry, sometimes, if only for a brief moment, he had wondered if perhaps....he was part of the problem, but it was a momentary thought that was easily brushed aside...but it always seemed to reappear...even when he tried to ignore it.
